How to get away with research
How to get away with research Rules to Entitle Research Paper Most of the readers will select an article, paper or a book judging from its title. And no matter what kind of content is hidden behind the heading, if the latter isnââ¬â¢t hackneyed, even the most captivating plot may remain undiscovered. But when it goes about scientific research paper entries, itââ¬â¢s not only title informativeness that matters. There are more important aspects to keep in mind. Make research paper title a self-sustainable one A title isnââ¬â¢t just a logical beginning of the paper. In fact, itââ¬â¢s a paper in itself though in a very concise form. Simply put, research paper heading should reflect the subject and the main purpose of the whole scientific work. If the title, taken separately from the content, doesnââ¬â¢t give an idea about the paper, it wonââ¬â¢t attract readersââ¬â¢ attention either. Long or short title? - Make the one required by research paper type Many think that the shorter heading is, the more attractive it looks. Not always. Generally, all titles are divided into three categories: topic or nominal titles, statement or compound and sentence-long headings. Normally, nominal titles, that are the ones consisting of a few words, usually nouns, are the most popular. They are brief and laconic, but provide little information about the paper. Thus, they are more characteristic of an entertaining genre of writing. However, sentence-long titles arenââ¬â¢t peculiar for all research papers either. If, youââ¬â¢ve got an extended psychology research, for instance, then full-sentence heading is the best way to give a reader a focus of your paper. But in the rest of the cases up to 10-word long titles are preferable. Use appropriate language Writing a title for a research paper many limit themselves to a formal tone only. However, there are more ââ¬Å"dos and donââ¬â¢tsâ⬠in crafting linguistically-correct heading for a research paper. Here is what you should do, when writing research paper title: Use scientific terms or words that define the nature of the research paper Use words or phrases that invite a reader to have a closer look at your research paper Use proper articles Make all notional words of the title capitalized And here is what can spoil your title and make it incorrect in terms of language use: Misuse of punctuation. While commas and even exclamatory mark are allowed to use in a title, other signs of punctuation such as semicolon and slash are forbidden Use of abbreviations Quotation marks that capture the whole title Remember that title is the first thing read. So, make it powerful using the rules above.

My Genre-ation Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
My Genre-ation - Research Paper Example Die Soldatenââ¬â¢s audio quality is superior due to the advanced technology available then and better recording techniques. This piece is a more dramatic composition different from La Traviata. It depicts extreme human emotions as that of fear, outrage and aggression. Die Soldaten requires 16 singing and 10 speaking roles apart from one hundred piece orchestra involving instruments ranging from stringed-instruments, to wind instruments, and unusual folk percussion instruments. It is bounded by the strict 12 tone music and exhibits a high degree of complexity despite its detailed design for a stage performance. Die Soldaten uses superior technology like, film screens, projectors, tape recorders and loudspeakers in addition to special effects. The orchestra is composed of flutes, oboes, clarinets, trumpets, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, bassoons, horns, trombones, bass tuba, timpani, crotales, cymbals, gongs, tamtams, tambourine, bongos, tomtoms, tumba, friction drum, triangles, cow bells, tubular bells, whips, castanets, guiro, maracas, xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, guitar, harps, glockenspiel, celesta, harpsichord, piano and strings. The composition is titled as La Traviata and was written in the mid 19th century during the Romantic Era of Classic Music. It was first performed live in front of an audience on 6th of March in 1853. La Traviata though embellished with symphonic ornamentation and decorated with lyrical prose and other elements of a full-fledged Opera like: heavy costumes, dominant instrument orchestration and vocal choir, presents strong and clear emotions by the leading characters. As observed in the musical pieces in La Traviata, specifically in Act 1, ââ¬Å"the drinking actâ⬠where ââ¬Å"Violettaâ⬠the leading character is seen to be drinking and making merry, the piece encompasses human desperation in relationships and the irresistible lure

International Competition Law and Practice Essay
International Competition Law and Practice - Essay Example Competition should be healthy and fair. It becomes unfair and subject to scrutiny when some firms attempt to drive their competitors out of the market. This is why there comes the need to regulate the anti-competitive behavior by companies. Competition law achieves this purpose and maintains market competition. Among the member states of the European Union, there is a set of treaties which are known as Treaties of the European Union. Among these treaties is the Treaty on the functioning of the European Union. Article 101 of this treaty prohibits the formation of cartels and other agreements that have the potential of disrupting free competition in the internal market of European Economic Area. e. ââ¬Å"make the conclusion of contracts subject to acceptance by the other parties of supplementary obligations which, by their nature or according to commercial usage, have no connection with the subject of such contracts.â⬠In the European case Carbon Gas Technologie,1 several companies joined together in an agreement under which they decided to exploit coal deposits in a much efficient manner. They agreed on using these reserves in a manner that is much less harmful to the environment. Some cases, like KSB/Goulds/Lowara/ITT,2 involve only economic elements but they are allowed as they pass a fair share of the benefits on to the consumer. But in the case of ARA, ARGEV, ARO,3 environmental benefits were not discussed under the criterion of fair share for consumers. As far as environmental benefits are concerned, preventive measures are also regarded as contributions to the protection of environment.4 In 1994, the Commission allowed an agreement between Exxon and Shell under which ethylene was no longer required to be transported between the two companies. It was because the transport of ethylene is harmful for the environment. The case of Philips ââ¬â Osram5 is another example of cases in which redu ction of negative externality is taken into

Examinations Essay Essay Example for Free
Examinations Essay Essay Certain forms of rhetoric may seem like they are set in concrete, but this is not true. The 75 Readings essays ââ¬Å"The Plague,â⬠ââ¬Å"Once More to the Lake,â⬠and ââ¬Å"Talk in the Intimate Relationship: His and Hersâ⬠are labeled as a narrative, a description and an exposition respectively. The essays are much like human beings in that, labels are no more than mere words that help divide them into certain categories that they only kind of fit into. The lines that divide essays into their categories are fuzzy line a misty morning in that a narrative may also be an exposition. The essays from 75 Readings do not have to be labeled so strictly for they can be viewed as any other form of rhetoric. An example of a narrative that could also be an exposition would be ââ¬Å"The Plagueâ⬠written by Barbara Tuchman. Expositions contain a process, an example, and compare/contrast. ââ¬Å"The Plagueâ⬠shows a process with the succession of the black plague. Tuchman charts out how the plague spread across Europe. Examples are common in expositions, such as when Tuchman says, ââ¬Å"In Siena, where more than half the inhabitants died of the plague, work was abandoned on the great cathedral, planned to be the largest in the world, and never resumed, owing to loss of workers and master masons and ââ¬Ëthe melancholy and griefââ¬â¢ of the survivorsâ⬠(Tuchman 28). There is also a definite compare and contrast, in which Tuchman compares and contrasts the different ways the plague effected different parts of Europe. Like how in Paris, France the nuns of Hotel Dieu tended the sick without fear of dying themselves while in Piazza, Sicily priests did not attend church to hear their flocks confessions because of their fear of death. As with ââ¬Å"The Plagueâ⬠, the essay ââ¬Å"Once More to the Lakeâ⬠can be labeled as another form of rhetoric. ââ¬Å"Once More to the Lakeâ⬠written by E. B. White is labeled as a descriptive; however, it could also be labeled as a narrative. A narrative must have, at least, a point of view, characters and a logical arrangement. The point of view is in the first person, the story is told from the narratorsââ¬â¢ point of view, ââ¬Å"On the journey over to the lake I began to wonder what it would be likeâ⬠(White 42). White also uses characters, mainly the narrator, his son, and the narratorsââ¬â¢ father. Another aspect of a narrative is a logical arrangement; Whiteââ¬â¢s logical arrangement follows the narrators thinking process. As the narrator switches between real time nd memories, we the readers follow his thinking process just as we would with the logical arrangement of any other narrative. Sure this form of logical arrangement is slightly confusing and difficult to recognize memory from reality and possibly suggests that the narrator has the beginning stages of Alzheimerââ¬â¢s or perhaps simply a few too many hits to the head. Finally, the essay labeled as an exposition, ââ¬Å"Talk in the Intimate Relationship: His and Hers,â⬠by Deborah Tannen, can also be a seen as a description. A description is known for its logical arrangement, sensory language, and objective or subjective perspective. The logical arrangement in this essay follows the different scenarios with dialogue between two individuals, one male and one female. One example of logical arrangement that Tannen uses would be the scenario where Sylvia and Henry are celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary and there is an issue with the cake. Tannens use of sensory language in the fiftieth anniversary scenario is subtle at best. There is just enough there to provide a scene for each scenario that Tannen uses. The essay has an objective perspective, since Tannen analyzes the conversation from the view of a scientist, to whom nothing is personal. From 75 Reading the essays ââ¬Å"The Plague,â⬠ââ¬Å"Once More to the Lake,â⬠and ââ¬Å"Talk in the Intimate Relationship: His and Hers,â⬠are more commonly labeled as a narrative, a description, and an exposition. These essays must not be labeled as an exposition, a narrative and a descriptive, respectively. This does not have to be so. Much like a castle made of Legos, everything is interchangeable within the forms of rhetoric. Like how ââ¬Å"The Plagueâ⬠is not only a narrative but also an exposition while, ââ¬Å"Once More to the Lakeâ⬠is not simply a description but a narrative, and ââ¬Å"Talk in the Intimate Relationship: His and Hersâ⬠cannot just be labeled as an exposition but as a description too. Forms of rhetoric are almost always interchangeable, like jewelry to a woman.

Free Macbeth Essays: The Value of Sleep :: Macbeth essays
The Value of Sleep in Macbeth I'm sure you know what it is like to not have a good night sleep for a day or two, or maybe even a whole week, but imagine not being able to sleep through the night for an entire year. Macbeth grows to know this feeling all too well in Shakespeare's Macbeth. Every time that Macbeth is involved in murdering his so-called friends, his waking hours grow longer and longer. He almost goes crazy the night that he kills King Duncan, and he can never get over this because he immediately has to kill again in order to protect himself Each of these killings causes Macbeth to sleep less and eventually leads to his insanity. It all starts when Macbeth and Lady Macbeth agree that it will be the best for both of their futures if Macbeth sneaks into the king's chamber and slaughters the king in cold blood. Here, he gets just a small glimpse of what's to come. He begins to already hear voices in his head. They say to him, "Sleep no more: Macbeth does murder sleep," and "the innocent sleep . . . Macbeth shall sleep no more" (II.ii.38-46).And he does not really sleep much more after this night. Macbeth kills innocence when he kills the sleeping Duncan. There is no possible way that Duncan can defend himself. He is completely helpless and innocent, but Macbeth kills him anyhow. Finally, there is no choice for Macbeth but to kill his best friend Banquo in order to destroy any thoughts that Macbeth is actually Duncan's murderer, Macbeth has lost countless amount of sleep due to his conscience. He can not even think straight. For him to even consider killing his friend is demented enough, but to follow through with his plans is completely insane. How can you kill the man you have told everything to, and who you have spent most of your fun times with. Macbeth shows even greater weakness when he claims to see Banquo's ghost at the dinner table the evening of the murder. He acts so insanely that his wife has to stand up and say, "Sit worthy friends. My lord is often thus, And hath been from his youth. Pray you, keep seat" (III.iv.53-54). Macbeth's own wife has to stand up and lie for him because Macbeth has gotten so little sleep that he actually thinks this ghost is real, even though he knows that Banquo is dead.

Case study Essay
This paper addresses the principles of Choice Theory with the origin of Classical Theory, as well as the Trait Theory which originated from the Positivist Theory. It establishes the differences between the two criminological theories. The defining characteristics are addressed to help the reader understand the relation between the two as well. The distinctions and descriptions are supported by various scholarly authors, and will be listed below. The ideas of the Choice Theory originated from the principles and ideas of the Classical Theory. Back in the late 1700ââ¬â¢s it was the understanding of the criminologist, that criminals would typically assess the possible benefits of conscious and rational choice before committing a crime. Choice theory establishes a mindset focused on the benefits they will render by becoming involved in a criminal act over the possibilities of punishment or rather conviction of the crime in question. Classical Theory was developed by Cesare Beccaria, an Italian social thinkers as stated in the text (pg. 84) after which, about a hundred years later the idea of Positivist Theory was developed and became the focus of the criminologist. Although the Positivist Theory made an appearance within the study, not much longer after they shifted back to the original thoughts of Cesare Beccaria. As the years went on Beccaria original idea of Choice Theory developed into something greater and more advanced in its description. According to one article ââ¬Å"Rational Choice Theory, Crime Control Policy, and Criminological Relevanceâ⬠states it is matured into a more comprehensive perspective that ultimately appreciates the complexity of the nature of criminal behavior. Within this crime theory, suggest that criminals are typically not fearfully of breaking the law because the excitement and thrill of the crime is far too enjoyable for these criminals. However if the criminal believe the punishment was too severe they will not engage in or every think to repeat their criminal offense. The notion that physical and mental traits distinguish a criminal from another is the principles of the Trait Theory. These criminals commit crime based on environmental effects as well the diet or food in which they may consume. It originated from the Positivist Theory that rejects the idea that the criminal makes a conscious and/or rational choice to commit a crime; but rather their character differences is what constitutes their criminal behavior. These differences suggest the criminologist conclusion of deviant member within society and helps them identify them as such. The idea of this theory suggest that criminals have a distinct characteristics that causes them to commit a crime but it is in fact an unconscious act because it a personal trait in which only few possess. It is easy to distinguish the difference between the Choice theory of Classical criminology and the Trait Theory of Positivist criminology. These differences include the free will of the classical criminology philosophy where the criminal calculates or determines if the crime is worth the risk of being convicted, whereas positivist criminology philosophy indicates the criminal is subject to external forces causing them to commit a crime. Choice theory suggest that the solution to this philosophy is any form of deterrence. And the solution for Positivist criminals is also some form of intervention. Classical criminology places importance on the idea of agency verses positivist places it concern on structure. Classical criminals must be punished whereas positivist criminals need rehabilitation. The similarities include they are both criminals act that need to be addressed to prevent them from occurring. Whatever form to therapy, rehab or intervention that needs to take place has to occur. Another similarity is the time it was founded. Both theories were established around the same time era.
